This has been one of my favorite websites when I first started to go online. In those days, this was the only one from India to have a major presence on internet. And everybody had a rediffmail account.
It was a wonderful site. Lots of news used to reach us even before the television channels could report it. I liked the site for the simple reason that it opened much faster than yahoo mail or hotmail, then. Even today I use rediffmail.
Over the years, rediff has added apart from mail and news other sections into the site to make it interesting for people to come in and explore. They segreagated the new topic wise, opened a shopping portal, blog, financial market, astrology sections and many more.
The site always had a simple clean look with less ads earlier. Later on it started having some irritating ads. But then, people loved it because it is of Indian origin. And still it is a good one except that the news and analysis has become stale and of trash value.

Why Blogger for my Blog
When I planned to start this blog, a friend said why not go for my own blog. I did some search. Finally decided I will stick with Blogger.com
Why Blogger, when there are options to own one with a private name of my choice?
I wanted a blog. Right. Right now I do not want to spend a lot on hosting one. My friend tried his best to get me on to a self-hosted one instead of this Free Blog. Since I'm new here, this gives me a chance to explore all its facilities. I did that for a while with few other blogs. But then decided to stick with Blogger.
Some of the important Advantages are:
1. Blogger is backed by Google. Atleast I have some trust in Google. If Google fails, So are the others.
2. Ease of Use: Its easy for a beginner to use blogger. Very easy to create a blog. All that one needs is a google account.
3. Your blog gets indexed very fast. I don't know much about these technical terms and what it does. But I know that it has something to do with search engines based on relevance of topics and freshness.
4. Change the appearance with a click. If you are little into programming, you can still tinker with it and make modifications to the codes to suit your choice.
Well, I remember only these few. There are many more.
